My Bike Whangarei is an independent, locally owned bike store in central Whangarei.

We stock a wide range of leading bike, scooter and accessory brands including Merida, Kona, Lapierre, Marin, Redline, Radius, BH, Rocket, MGP, Haro, Del Sol, GT, Schwinn, Fox, Bell, Giro, Serfas and Limar.

We are passionate about providing an individualised service regardless of whether you are a beginner/novice or experienced rider or are just looking to get back on your bike or try a new riding style. Our focus is on providing good advice and back-up, rather than hard sell. We will not try and push you into anything that isn’t suitable for your needs and requirements!

Our busy workshop has three mechanics – Jared, Josh and Hayden – who are all passionate about bikes and quality workmanship. All three of them started working on bikes as youngsters and have over twenty-five years of experience between them (even though the oldest is only 30ish!). They are all keen riders and are mad about bikes – their bike collection in our back room is testament to this!

We sponsor a number of local clubs, events and riders and provide professional bike servicing to local businesses and community groups. If you are looking for friendly and genuine advice or service, then My Bike Whangarei is the store for you.

How long have you worked in the biking industry?
Ten years – since I was 14 years old.

Experience:
I started out working part-time at Hedgehog Bikes in 2006 after school. I then started working at Fat Dog Cycles as a fulltime mechanic and sales person. I was there until 2011 when My Bike Whangarei was established.
I started racing BMX at the age of 10 before taking up mountain biking with the family. I then developed an interest in dirt jump and downhill events. In 2008 I won the NZ Dirt Jump Open at Woodhill Mountain Bike Park when I was 18.

Favourite riding styles:
Currently I like to ride freestyle BMX and mountain biking / trail riding. Every now and then I get the BMX race bike out and go to the local track. I also have a fixed gear bike for commuting.

Parahaki Mountain Bike Park – good selection of trails and fitness
